FamilySearch basics
How to Log In for the First Time
Follow this guided checkup to sign in, open your tree, and identify one meaningful next step. This page does not collect your name or contact information.
Can you sign in with your Church Account?
Use your Church Account to access FamilySearch. If you can already sign in, continue to FamilySearch. If not, choose the account-creation path.
Would you like to create a Church Account?
You will need your membership record number to create an account.
Open the Tools app
Open the Tools app on your phone. It can help you find your membership record number.
Find your membership record number
In Tools, go to Directory, search for your name, open your record, and find the Membership tab. Copy or write down your record number.
Create a Church Account
Return to the Church Account sign-in screen, choose Create Account, and follow the prompts.
Sign in to FamilySearch
Open FamilySearch.org or the FamilySearch app. If prompted, choose Continue with Church Account and sign in with your Church Account username and password.
Ordinances Ready
In FamilySearch, open Temple and look for Ordinances Ready. It can help you find names to take to the temple.
Open your Family Tree
In FamilySearch, open Family Tree.
Find the first missing generation
In the FamilySearch app, stay on Tree. On FamilySearch.org, open the Fan Chart view so missing ancestors are easier to see. Select the first generation with a missing direct ancestor.

Monthly Ward Temple Night
Temple Night — the 3rd day of each month
We attend the 7pm endowment session on ward temple night. However, if you are not able to attend the endowment session, you can do an initiatory or sealing session. Please invite another member or couple to go with you!
If you would like a family name, a personal invitation, or someone to attend with, ward consultants would be glad to help.
What happens when I ask for help?
A consultant visit is brief, focused, and requires no previous family-history experience. Together, you can complete one meaningful next step.
